people wanting to die
Today on the way to work we were stopped in traffic and there was a women in a car next to us with 3 kids.. There were 2 in the back and 1 in the front.. The 2 kids in the back didn't have seat belts on .. I couldn't believe it.. and it wasn't like they had been cheeky and taken them off or somthign because the mother was turing around in her seat to talk to them .. they were sitting up and leaning into the front and all kinds of things.. the kid in the front had a seat belt on.. lucky him.. in an accident his brothers are going to land on his head anyway.. I just can't get over the stupidity of some people.. we have that many campaigns about safe driving, wearing seatbelts is often the priority (I must admit that at the moment speeding is the big thing) but in the last few years there have been heaps of telveision ads about wearing seat belts not to mention roadside signs .. and the these ads are usually pretty gruesome.. you know bodies flying through the air and such.. i guess the things that amazes me the most is that its not like a hard or difficult task.. for most people putting your seat belt on as soon as you get into a car is instinct.. and for such little effort you get such big rewards.. even being in a little bingle or stopping suddenly could have such big consequences..
I am pretty big into car safety.. when I was in high school one of my mums friends daughters was in a car boot when the car sturck a tree.. she is a quadraplegic now.. she was lucky, other passengers were killed and seriously injured too.. they went through hell with that accident.. it changed their entire life.. she had to recover from the accident, come to terms with her new life and then rebuild her life.. I think she was 19.. she had been at uni.. none of that anymore.. she had to learn new life skills.. it took years before she was able to do tasks we take for granted.. I haven't seen them in quite a while now.. but she did start to get her life back on track eventually.. makes you think.. one silly mistake could have huge ramifications..
