I haven't blogged for a week

there has been much going on ..

after visiting my dad last week I decided that he needed more visits so I had wednesday off to check up on him.. He was then moved to the hospital thursday and so I wasn't in at work then either..

Friday was a bit of a stress as I was catching up on work and visiting dad..

Friday night thomas called form the hospital to say the Dr thought I should come in .. we had a chat to him and they were concerned that he might not improve.. he was in a sleep they were having troubles waking him..

we got a full explanation about the calcium levels in his blood and the effects that can have on the body (worst effect is to put you in a coma) .. so dad was put on some medication to bring the calcium levels down and then some fluids to help flush it out also. anyway over the weekend he improved greatly.. and is awake often and alert and eating heaps more than I have seen him eat in ages.. not only that but he is able to feed himself.. and is even eating real solid food, not just soup and juices...

he had been getting anxious often when I saw him and was concerned that people were out to hurt or get him.. so i spoke with the dr yesterday and today he mentioned that they have reduced his medication.. which seemed to have had an effect on him today.. he seemed more relaxed, coherant and himself.. I am pleased about that...

apparently I am always trying to make him eat things.. I ususally show up about meal times.. and want him to eat stuff.. he said yesterday that I am worse than Eve... now thats a real challenge.. she was always trying to feed us.. how annoying..

I also got he dr today to look at a sore bit on dads arm.. he had a chat to phil and I about it.. he thinks it is a skin cancer.. and it going to have to chat to his boss (he is an intern) about it.. options will be to leave it or remove it.. we will have to wait and see what they think is the best move and see how dad feels about it.. the dr didn't mention to dad that he thought it was cancer.. probably needs to make some options available.. hhmm.. ther is much to think about.. because if they remove it, there will be a wound and pain and healing time.. and also it might not be a primary cancer, which means more are just going to grow and removing one won't actually affect anything.. so we will wait and see..

but the place that dad is in is fabulous.. there are heaps of nurses and people to look after him.. they are all really nice and keen and caring .. they are also responsive to the patients needs.. much better than some places.. there is also a fridge to put dads yogurt in, plus ice cream if he ever wants any..
